Pathfinder Classes

There are 6 levels to the Pathfinder Curriculum.  Friend, Companion, Ranger, Voyager and Guide.  These match academic grades 5 - 10.  Upon completion of the requirements for each level, Pathfinders are invested, and receive certificate, and patches acknowledging their accomplishment

Companion Class

Companions are Pathfinders in 6th grade. Companions recite the Pathfinder pledge and law, develop your devotional life by reading the Weekly Devotional Guide (weeks 14 – 26) and the book of Genesis. Some of the honors Companions earn are Drilling and Marching, Red Alert II, Temperance, Cultural Diversity Appreciation, Cacti and Camping Skills II.

Ranger Class

Rangers are Pathfinders in 8th grade. Rangers recite the Pathfinder pledge and law, illustrate through words and actions the Pathfinder law meaning, and develop their devotional life by reading the Weekly Devotional Guide (weeks 40 – 52) and the book of John . Some of the honors Rangers earn are Serving Communities, First Aid, Bible Marking, Hiking, Shells, Family Life, and Camping Skills IV.

Guide Class

Guides are Pathfinders in 10th grade. Guides recite the Adventist Youth (AY) aim, pledge, and motto, illustrate through words and actions the AY aim meaning, and develop their daily devotional life by reading the Senior Weekly Devotional Guide (weeks 27 – 52) and the book of Revelation.  Some of the honors Guides earn are Teaching, Rocks and Minerals.  Additionally, Guides teach Knot Tying, Red Alert, Camping Skills III, and Camping Skills IV to other Pathfinders.

Guides may apply to or continue in the Teen Leadership Training program

Friend Class

Friends are Pathfinders in 5th grade. Friends recite the Pathfinder law and pledge, develop a devotional life by reading the Weekly Devotional Guide (weeks 1 – 13) and the book of Matthew.  Some of the fun and exciting honors Friends can earn are Red Alert, Birds, Seeds, Basic Water Safety, Christian Citizenship, Nutrition, and Camping Skills I.  .

Explorer Class

Explorers are Pathfinders in 7th grade. Explorers recite the Pathfinder pledge and law, illustrate through words and actions the Pathfinder pledge meaning, develop their devotional life by reading the Weekly Devotional Guide (weeks 27 – 39) and the book of Acts . Some of the honors Explorers earn are Christian Grooming and Manners, Stars, Knot Tying, Basic Rescue, and Camping Skills III.  .

Voyager Class

Voyagers are Pathfinders in 9th grade. Voyagers recite the Adventist Youth (AY) aim, motto, and pledge, illustrate through words and actions the AY aim meaning, and develop their devotional life by studying the Senior Weekly Devotional Guide (weeks 1 – 26) and the book of Romans. Some of the honors Voyagers earn are Identifying Community Needs, Stewardship, Fire Building and Camp Cookery, CPR, Hydroponic Gardening. Additionally, Voyagers teach Camping Skills I and Camping Skills II to other Pathfinders. 

Voyagers may apply to the Teen Leadership Training program.
